INFORMATION REGARDING MILLER PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
EXTERIOR MAINTENANCE AND RENOVATIONS

The Miller Performing Arts Center is currently undergoing maintenance and renovation of our exterior. Funds have been provided by a private donor to stain the exterior brick and concrete, paint the exterior stucco material to match the brick, and complete the aluminum masking curtain wall on the south side of the building. In addition to the color change, the Miller Center will also receive tuckpointing of all exterior brickwork, and resealing of all windows. Money for the exterior color change and screen completion has been provided by a private donor. No tax dollars are being used for the exterior color change and screen completion. However, exterior maintenance, including tuckpointing and window sealing is being funded out of the 2009-2010 school year maintenance budget. These exterior renovations will be taking place through early December. Naturally, due to the nature of the work being done, parking at the already-limited Miller Center parking lot will be reduced. We are working with the construction crews to minimize the impact on parking, particularly on heavily-attended days, however, we ask our visitors to please be patient and flexible while these renovations are completed. Besides the Miller Center parking lot, additional parking is located along Madison, Miller and Monroe Streets. If you're planning on visiting a downtown restaurant after a performance, we recommend parking in the municipal parking garage at Madison Street and Capitol Avenue and walking three blocks to the Miller Center. Please note that cars parked in the Central Bank, Regions Bank, Doubletree Hotel and 2nd Baptist Church parking lots during business hours will be towed. We appreciate your patience and flexibility during these renovations. For more information, please contact the Jefferson City Public Schools Office of School-Community Relations at (573) 659-3018. |
